Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 19
The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru is just missing a little sophistication when I tasted it from barrel, missing the assuredness of the Bonnes-Mares by direct comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, quite a thickly textured Echézeaux that might be just a little pushed for my liking, at the expense of some finesse on the finish. Maybe bottle age will engender more sophistication?
